Nelson Carbajal was recently promoted from Lieutenant to Assistant Chief. He has 10 years of experience with St. Stephens FD.
He began his membership as a volunteer member in July of 2014 and was employed as a full time Engineer in October of 2017. In December of 2018, Nelson was promoted to administration as Lieutenant. He was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 2017 and Employee of the year in 2021. He has obtained his 2 yr. Associate degree in Fire Protection Tech, Emergency Management and Public Admin. and is a NC Certified Fire fighter, NCOEMS Basic EMT, NC Technical Rescuer, NC certified Driver Operator, Level 3 FLSE, Fire Officer 2, Fire Instructor 2, Haz-Mat Responder, CPS technician and other certifications.
