The St. Stephens Fire Department has four full-time personnel on duty Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Eight full-time personnel work 24 hour shifts, two per shift. Our department is considered a combination department because we have a combination of full-time staff, part-time staff and volunteers. These members are an asset to our department and their duties are not limited to responding to emergencies. They perform a multitude of duties such as: budget, clerical, incident reporting, training, station and apparatus maintenance, public relations, fire education, and the list goes on. All these things are done between responding to emergencies within the community.

With the addition of medical first response in 2008, we saw the need to hire additional staff members to assist with the alarming increase in call volume. This increased our full-time roster. The full-time staff helps offset the peak time when most of our volunteers are at work and can't respond or will be delayed due to travel distances.
